Street voices
"Simp is basically someone trying too hard to impress their crush. They're going above and beyond, sometimes maybe degrading themselves in a way, for that certain crush. An example would be, damn man, you really are simping, you drove 3 hours just to go out and see her? What a simp."
What it means
A simp is someone who lavishes attention, favours and devotion on a crush who barely gives anything back, bending over backwards just for a scrap of approval. Said teasingly to a mate going soft for someone.
Usage examples
"He bought her concert tickets after one date, total simp."
"Stop simping over someone who leaves you on read."
"Bro sent her money and she still doesn't know his surname, that's peak simp behaviour."
"You're simping again mate, she replied with one dry emoji and now you're writing poems."

Where it comes from
Simp comes from simpleton, a US insult that was shortened to simp in the early 1900s. Online it got revived hard in the late 2010s, especially through meme culture and livestream spaces, where it narrowed into calling someone overly thirsty, devoted, or too eager to please a crush for little back.
