Street voices
"Valid means okay, that's good, basically it's an agreement. Good, acceptable, approves, all of that, that's basically what valid means. An example would be, guys, here's my hot take on colors. Orange and navy blue actually go pretty well together. You just need to have like the right shades. And then someone will go like, oh yeah, valid."
What it means
Calling a take or a feeling valid is a quick stamp of approval, saying it makes total sense and you are right to feel that way. A small word that does a lot of supportive heavy lifting.
Usage examples
"Skipping the party to rest? Totally valid."
"Honestly that is a valid reason to be upset."
"You muted the group chat for your own peace? Valid."
"Nah, being annoyed about that is fully valid."

Edit, fix or tell us something. We review it and, if it is true, you will see it applied with your name on it.
Where it comes from
It comes straight from standard English valid, meaning something is well founded or acceptable. Online and in everyday chat, especially from the 2010s on, it got narrowed into a quick approval tag for opinions, choices, and feelings, basically saying yep, that tracks and you're allowed to feel that.
