"Your day one, someone who has been your friend for so long they might as well have been your friend since day one. Yo dawg, I got you a gift. Oh shit, what's up? Oh my God, how did you know I wanted this? Bro, you're my day one. I'd know everything you want, homie."

What it means

Means your oldest, most trusted mate, the one who's been around so long they feel stitched into your life from the start. You call someone your day one when they've stayed solid through every daft phase, bad haircut, and chaotic plot twist. Warm, loyal phrase, proper friendship medal stuff without sounding too formal or mushy.

Usage examples

"Man, Nate pulled up with my favorite snacks and the exact hoodie I wanted. That's my day one right there. Dude knows me too well."
"She flew across the country just to sit with me through a rough week, no questions asked, that is my day one right there."
"Maya's still got screenshots from my crusty teenage era and she still answers every mad little crisis. That's my day one."
"I don't need a big squad, I've got my day one and that's enough to keep the whole week standing up straight."
"I've known Tasha since we were sharing fries and bad lies in middle school. That's my day one, no debate."

Where it comes from

It grows straight out of from day one, meaning from the very beginning. In Black American English and wider US slang, day one started getting used for a person instead of just a time marker. So your day one became the friend who's been solid since the jump, with history and trust already locked in.
