What it means
Orbiting is when someone who has ghosted or pulled away still hovers around your social media, watching your stories and liking your posts without ever actually talking to you. They stay in your orbit, close enough to be seen, too far to reach.

Where it comes from
The term came out of online dating and social media talk in the late 2010s. It builds on orbit, the path of something circling around without ever touching down. That image fits the whole move perfectly: they vanish from real contact but still loop around your posts, stories, and digital space.
