What it means
To single-handedly drag your team to victory while the others flounder, doing the heavy lifting that wins the game. It carries straight into real life: one person carried the group project, the bassist carried the whole band. Hard carry is when you basically won it alone.
Usage examples
"We were losing badly until she logged on and carried the whole match."
"Let us be honest, the drummer carried that entire gig."
"Bro was half asleep and still carried us through the raid."
"I did one slide and she carried the whole presentation, fair play."

Where it comes from
This one’s straight out of gaming. In MOBAs, shooters, and team games, the carry is the player who scales hard and ends up doing the lion’s share of the winning. From there, carry turned into a verb for dragging a shaky team, project, or whole chaotic setup over the finish line.
