"Silent repost is basically just a statement you say because when you want to repost something... let's get into reposting. Basically when there's something on TikTok or Instagram that you really relate with, it could be a post or just basically a post like a video or a photo or like a caption or whatever, you have the option to repost it, which basically means you agree with it. So silent repost is basically when something that you secretly relate to and you don't really want people to know about it publicly, but you just really relate to it. So people usually comment like, oh, silent repost, this. Because it won't show up on your page, on your account, so people won't really know that you relate to this, you know, the post or whatever, unless the post also shows up on their feed and then they see your comment. It's not that common. Or you don't really have to comment, you can just say, oh, like silent repost. I can say it to your closest friend or someone else like, oh okay, silent repost. An example would be, oh my god, have you seen this breakup edit? It's so relatable, silent repost."
What it means
A silent repost is when a post hits way too close, you fully feel it, but you're not trying to publicly stamp your name on that feeling. So instead of actually reposting it, you call it a silent repost. It's big in TikTok and Instagram talk, basically a quiet little same here without putting your emotional laundry on the front porch.

Where it comes from
It grew out of TikTok and Instagram repost culture. Since reposting a video or post publicly can read like yep, that's me or I co-sign this, people started joking about the ones they related to hard but didn't want to expose. That's where silent repost clicked into place as a label.
