What it means
A fit check is when someone shows the full outfit on purpose so people can see the whole look and react to it. Usually it's a mirror pic, a full-body video, or a quick story post. It's part style flex, part fishing for hype, with that little knowing grin of yeah, this outfit is eating.

Where it comes from
Fit has long been used in Black American and hip-hop-influenced slang to mean outfit. Pairing it with check grew naturally out of check meaning to look at or assess something. Fit check really blew up in the late 2010s on Instagram and then TikTok, where showing the whole look became its own post ritual.
