Street voices
"Getting laid, meaning having sex. Yo, how was the party last night? Well, you know, I danced around, drank a lot, and ended up getting laid. Ooh, lucky you, man."
What it means
A blunt, casual way to say someone had sex, usually in a braggy, cheeky, or slightly crude way. You hear it in chat about dates, hookups, parties, and all that post-night-out big-talking.
Usage examples
"How was the party last night? I danced, had a few drinks, and ended up getting laid."
"It's locker-room talk, really, the kind of getting-laid bragging that says more about the bragger than anything else."
"He kept hinting he was getting laid all summer, but the photos were all him and his dog."
"He came back from the weekend acting like a king just because he got laid once."
"You're not a legend for getting laid, mate, calm your chest."
Where it comes from
This one comes from the older sense of lay meaning to place someone down in bed. By the early 20th century, get laid had become a slang way to mean successfully having sex. It stuck around in American English, then spread wide through films, music, and everyday banter.
