What it means

Nonsense, rubbish, or absolute garbage. Originally from Urdu and Hindi but completely absorbed into Indian English everyday speech. When someone is talking bakwaas, they are saying nothing worth listening to, whether it is a terrible excuse, a far-fetched story, or just rambling for the sake of it. Said with enough disgust and it shuts the conversation down instantly.

Usage examples

"Arre yaar, what bakwaas excuse is this? You were online the whole time, just say you did not want to come"
"Arre yaar, this whole pre-wedding planning is total bakwaas, three meetings in one week and nobody can decide on the menu, my cousin is ready to fight everyone in the family."
"Did you see the new property show on TV, complete bakwaas, they had a so-called expert in Mumbai talking about flat prices that have not been real since two thousand twelve."

Voices of the people

Theory is all well and good... but what we Magikitos really love is hearing humans in their natural flow. That's why we collect voice notes that people send us on WhatsApp, recording themselves using the expression with a real, street-level example!
