You're not just hungry, you're hangry: hungry enough to get snappy, moody, and weirdly dramatic till some food lands in your system. One snack later and the demon usually leaves.

Where it comes from
Hangry is a straight-up blend of hungry and angry. It was around in spoken English before it really hit print, then started showing up in books and newspapers in the late 20th century. It stuck because it nails that very specific mood where low blood sugar turns a normal person into a grumble goblin.
