Street voices
"Finsta is your, basically, your private Instagram that typically your family won't know about and only your close friends or just certain friends know about. Not everyone in the public knows about it and you try to keep it private. An example would be, oh my god, did you make sure you posted it on your Finsta? I don't want my mom to see this."
What it means
A finsta is your fake or private Instagram, the low key account where the real chaos lives. You keep it for close mates, daft photos, unfiltered rants and stuff you would never fling onto your polished main. It is less influencer showroom, more digital back room with the curtain half shut.
Usage examples
"Post it on your finsta, not your main, my mum does not need to see us screaming lyrics in the kitchen at 1 a.m."
"I've got that on my finsta only, I'm not letting random coworkers witness my 2 a.m. spiral."
"Her main is all sunshine and oat lattes, then the finsta's just memes, bad angles, and pure emotional rubble."
Got something to say?
Edit, fix or tell us something. We review it and, if it is true, you will see it applied with your name on it.
Where it comes from
Finsta comes from blending fake and Instagram. It took off in the 2010s when people started making second, more private accounts for close friends only, away from the polished main feed. Funny thing is, the name stuck even when the account wasn't fully fake, just way more locked down and messy-real.
