Where it comes from
Fairycore came out of online aesthetic culture in the late 2010s, especially on Tumblr and then TikTok, where people started grouping hyper-specific visual moods under the -core label. The name is pretty literal: fairy plus core, meaning the fairy-tale woodland version of that whole internet aesthetic boom.
