"Stunting means to be fly, cool, or stylish. It is an extension of the word stunt, which means an action displaying spectacular skill. For example, hey, did you see MC Air at the rap show last night? He was stunting."

What it means

Means showing off your look, money, vibe, or general shine with confidence so loud it makes people turn their heads. If you're stunting, you're not trying to disappear into the wallpaper. You're stepping out to be seen, and you know damn well it works.

Usage examples

"Did you see Malik roll into the rap show in chrome shades and a white mink? Man was stunting so hard even the DJ clocked him."
"He rolled into the reunion in a tailored white suit and gold rings, stunting so hard that everyone forgot to ask about his job."
"She walked into brunch in red bottoms and a leather trench, fully stunting and acting like the sidewalk belonged to her."
"Bruh pulled up to the block in a candy-painted old-school, chain out, music booming, straight stunting."
"She wasn't just dressed up, she was straight stunting on everybody in that birthday fit."

Where it comes from

It comes from stunt, which in Black American speech and hip-hop grew from meaning a flashy move or big feat into showing off style, money, jewelry, cars, or straight-up presence. By the late 90s and 2000s, stunting was locked in as flexing hard so people had to clock you.
