What it means

To face the music is to stop ducking it and take the telling-off you’ve earned. You admit you messed up, show up, and deal with the fallout, whether that’s a boss, your mates, or a proper awkward apology. It’s the opposite of blagging or hiding. Not exactly a vibe, but sometimes you’ve just got to stand there and cop it.

Usage examples

"He blamed the Wi-Fi for days, but the report was never started. Monday morning he finally faced the music in the meeting, coffee in hand."
"He broke the window, so now he's got to face the music and tell the landlord himself."
"No point hiding the dodgy report, better to face the music and own the mistake first thing Monday."

Voices of the people

Theory is all well and good... but what we Magikitos really love is hearing humans in their natural flow. That's why we collect voice notes that people send us on WhatsApp, recording themselves using the expression with a real, street-level example!
