What it means
To rage quit is to bail on a game, task, chat, whatever, in a full strop because you're too annoyed to deal with one more second of it. It's not a calm exit. It's snapping, closing the app, chucking the controller, and vanishing in a little cloud of fury.
Usage examples
"He was losing three nil so he rage quit and left the lobby."
"The printer jammed again and I nearly rage quit the whole report."
"I died to the same camper three times and just rage quit out of pure spite."
"She tried to upload the form for an hour, got the error message again, and rage quit the whole thing."
Where it comes from
It’s a straight compound of rage and quit. The phrase took off in video game culture in the 2000s for players who'd suddenly leave a match after getting angry, especially when losing. From there it spread into everyday English for storming out of any situation in a huff.
