What it means
Normcore is the look of dressing deliberately plain on purpose, basic jeans, neutral tee, simple trainers, nothing flashy, nothing screaming for attention. The whole gag is that being ultra normal becomes the style. It started half ironic, then turned into a real fashion lane for people who wanted anti-drip drip.

Where it comes from
The term took off in 2014 after trend forecasters at K-HOLE used it in their report Youth Mode. It blends normal and hardcore, basically naming the idea of fully leaning into looking ordinary. What began as a cheeky cultural label quickly got picked up by fashion media and turned into a proper style tag.
