What it means

Where it comes from
Lah in Singlish comes from Southern Chinese sentence-final particles, especially through Hokkien and Cantonese, then settled deep into everyday Singapore speech. It's not really a word with a neat dictionary meaning. It's more of a mood dial that tweaks tone, feeling, and social texture in one quick little puff of sound.
