What it means
A zoomer is someone from Gen Z, the generation that grew up with a smartphone in hand and never knew a world without wifi. Quick with the slang, fluent in memes, baffled by why anyone would make a phone call when you could just text. Coined as the younger answer to boomer, half affectionate, half eye-roll depending on who's saying it.

Where it comes from
"Zoomer" grew out of "boomer" as a joking label for Generation Z, with the z sound doing most of the work. It picked up steam online in the late 2010s and got used both affectionately and mockingly, usually by people talking about Gen Z habits, humour, and terminal internet fluency.
