Where it comes from
Binge goes back to English dialect use for heavy drinking sprees, especially from the mid 1800s in Britain. It first meant a bout of excessive booze, then widened out over time to any all-in session of overdoing it. That's how we got binge-watch, binge-eat, and the whole glorious no-brakes vibe.
