Tacked onto a word, -core means a whole look, mood, or little universe of vibes, like cottagecore or gymcore. On its own, core means something is the purest, most dead-on version of that thing. If it screams the bit with its whole chest, it's core.

Where it comes from
It comes from hardcore, where -core first lived in music genre names. Online, especially through tagging culture and aesthetic talk, people stretched it way past music. Now it gets slapped onto almost anything to name a vibe, and core by itself means peak, distilled essence.
