What it means
Short for over the top, usually said as the letters. You drop it when someone’s going full extra, whether it’s a blinding outfit, a massive reaction, or planning a kid’s party like Glasto. Can be a bit judgy or just friendly ribbing, all down to your tone. Handy little put-down for when subtlety’s nowhere to be seen.
Usage examples
"Dave rocked up to the pub in a three-piece suit and a speaker. Everyone else was in trackies. Mate, that’s proper OTT, grab a pint."
"The decorations for a six-year-old's party were a bit ott, they had a smoke machine and a live band."
"Saying the soup needs a lawsuit is ott, just tell the waiter it was a little cold."
