Where it comes from
Baddie grew out of AAVE and wider Black internet culture, where bad had long been used as praise for someone striking, sexy, or seriously impressive. By the 2010s, baddie locked in as the label for a woman serving looks, confidence, and a polished online-ready vibe, then spread hard through Instagram and pop culture.
