Hey there. We’re the Magikitos, and today we want you to meet Carmen’s workshop, the human who makes us. It’s that tiny magical corner where we’re born and start breathing our own little life.
Get ready, because you’re about to find out that making Magikitos isn’t just cold porcelain and wool roving. It’s a whole vibe.
A little pocket of calm and creativity
Carmen’s workshop isn’t huge or super fancy. There’s no big industrial space. No shiny next-gen machines. And you know what? That’s exactly why it’s perfect.
It’s small, with lovely natural light, music in the background, and the basic tools: hands, cold porcelain, paint, and a lot of coffee. Everything moves slowly here, no rushing, just how real handmade magic should be.
This is what a normal day in the workshop looks like. Organized chaos and good vibes.
When Carmen steps into the workshop, she disconnects from the world. No hurry. No stress. No weird “be productive” pressure. Just her, her hands, and the calm of making something with love.
The materials we’re made with
Sometimes people think you need a thousand expensive, rare supplies to do crafts. Nah. Magikitos are born from simple things.
Cold porcelain
It’s like clay that hardens in the air. No oven, not toxic, and it works like a dream. Carmen uses it for the Brownies, our little faces, our tiny bodies. Everything “solid” you see on a Magikito is cold porcelain.
Sheep wool roving
For the Fairies, she uses pure, unspun sheep wool. It’s super soft, 100% natural, and you can shape it with water and soap (but that’s another story). It’s basically like working with baby clouds.
Acrylic paints
To bring our faces to life, the details, the little outfits. She uses gentle colors, nothing loud. Magikitos don’t go clubbing, we go to the woods.
Moss and natural bits
And then comes the final touch: real moss, tiny twigs, little stones. All collected on walks in the hills. Because a Magikito without that touch of nature isn’t a real Magikito. Simple as that.
Moss is love. Moss is life. Moss is magic.
The step-by-step process
Wanna snoop on how we’re born? Okay then, no secrets:
1. The “mental sketch” (or none at all)
Sometimes Carmen has a clear idea, like “I want a meditating Brownie.” Other times she just sits down and lets her hands choose. Sounds weird, but it works. The best Magikitos show up when she doesn’t overthink it.
2. Shaping the body
It starts with a little ball of cold porcelain, then she shapes it. Tiny torso, little arms, little legs. All by hand, no molds. That’s why no two of us are ever the same.
3. The face (her favourite part)
This is where we get our personality. The little eyes, the mischievous grin, those chubby cheeks. Each face takes time, because she wants us to have soul.
4. The details that change everything
The hat, the outfit, moss on the head, a twig in the hand. Details are everything. They’re what turns us from “cute figure” into a Magikito with a story.
5. Drying and waiting
Here comes the boring part: waiting. Cold porcelain takes a few days to fully dry. No rush. While we’re drying, Carmen’s already working on the next little troublemaker.
The gang waiting to dry. They’re always plotting something.
Why every one of us is one of a kind
Carmen doesn’t use molds. She doesn’t do “mass production.” There’s no “Magikito number 47, model X.”
She makes each one by hand, with little imperfections, its own personality, and its own kind of magic. Some of us show up with a cheekier smile. Others have sleepier eyes (the nap lovers, obviously). Others are more zen, sitting all calm and centred.
In a world of factory-made everything, that’s special. When you adopt a Magikito, you know there isn’t another one like it on the whole planet. It’s yours, and only yours.
What inspires Carmen
Where does she get ideas from? A bit of everything:
- Nature. Walks in the hills, spotting moss, mushrooms, slugs. That stuff fills her head with ideas.
- People. She watches personalities, gestures, ways of being. Then she turns them into us.
- The moment. Sometimes she starts making a “serious” Brownie and suddenly one comes out laughing. She lets it flow.
- You. When you tell her how your Magikitos keep you company, you give her a kind of energy that’s honestly unreal.

The end of the process: finding a home
When a Magikito is ready, Carmen takes a killer photo, uploads it to the shop, and crosses her fingers that we’ll find our perfect human.
When someone adopts us, she feels this mix of joy and a tiny bit of nostalgia. It’s like watching a kid leave home (but no drama, we Magikitos go back to the Forest of Taramundi whenever we feel like it).
Thanks for popping into the workshop and snooping on how we’re born. If you’ve got any questions, you know where to find us.
