Monthly contest rules

Each calendar month (Madrid time) the contest rewards the best community audio piece in two independent categories: stories and jokes. All the pieces published on the site compete together, in any of the five languages (Spanish, English, German, French and Italian). The contest is ongoing: when one month closes, the next one starts automatically. Dictionary expressions and any other type of content do not take part.

Taking part is free and requires no purchase: every story or joke published on Magikitos through the Estudio automatically enters each month's contest for as long as it stays published. Anyone can take part and you can submit AS MANY pieces as you like: every story and every joke competes on its own, with no limit per person. That said, each monthly prize goes to a single piece.

The contest is run by the owner of magikitos.com, whose identification and contact details appear on the terms page of this site. If anything is unclear, write to us through the contact page.

A vote is a positive reaction (any emoji from the reactions bar except the tomato, which neither adds nor subtracts) given by a person with a Magikitos account. Each account can keep at most one active reaction per piece: switching emojis does not add votes. For each month, only the reactions given within that calendar month count, so every piece, new or veteran, starts each month from zero. Voting for your own work is not possible.

When the month ends, the piece with the most valid votes wins in each category. In the event of a tie, the piece that reached its final vote count first wins. There is a single prize per category and month. If a category receives no votes in a given month, that category's prize is declared void.

Voting for your own work is blocked. Creating multiple accounts, exchanging or buying votes, automating reactions or any other manipulation of the count leads to the cancellation of the affected votes and, where appropriate, the disqualification of the piece and its author. The organizer reserves the right to review the votes before confirming a prize.

The prize for the stories category is 50 euros and the prize for the jokes category is 25 euros, per calendar month. The prize is paid by bank transfer to a European bank account (SEPA zone). It cannot be exchanged for products or transferred to third parties, and no alternative in kind is offered.

The winner is notified by email and through a notification in their Magikitos account. To get paid, they must enter the account holder's name and the IBAN of a European bank account in their personal area within 7 calendar days after the month closes. If we do not receive valid bank details within that period, that month's prize is declared void and does not carry over to other pieces or later months. If the winning piece belongs to an anonymous account, its author can claim the account with their email within the same period and get paid as usual.

Any taxes arising from the prize are borne by the winner according to the rules of their country of residence. Where Spanish law requires a withholding or payment on account, the organizer will apply it in line with the regulations in force.

The close is automatic: the very night the month rolls over, the system works out the winners and lets them know by email and with a notification in their Magikitos account. The hall of fame in the Contest section of your account also keeps the record of past winners.

Your Magikitos account carries a live ranking in the Contest section with the most voted pieces of the current month. The scoreboard opens up once you take part: publish at least one piece and you can drop by whenever you like to see how things stand.

Yes. Stories and jokes are independent categories with their own prize, so the same person can take the 50 euros for the story and the 25 euros for the joke in the same month if the community votes that way.

No. Your piece stays published exactly as it was and your setines are untouched: the contest prize is separate money, and setines remain the house reputation you earn by contributing.

Only pieces that comply with the site's moderation policy can win: real audio from real people, with good vibes and no harmful content. A piece removed through moderation stops taking part. Content remains its author's under the site's general terms.

The account holder's name and the IBAN are used exclusively to pay the prize and are kept alongside the prize record as proof of payment. All other data processing is governed by the site's privacy policy.

The organizer may amend these rules or suspend the contest at any time by publishing the change on this very page. Months already closed are not affected. These rules are governed by Spanish law and any dispute will be submitted to the competent courts in Spain, without prejudice to the rights of consumers.
