Congratulations! You've adopted a Magikito. Now comes the important part: making sure your new mischief companion stays happy, handsome, and ready to keep stealing your socks for a very long time.
Relax, caring for a Magikito is super easy. It's not like caring for a little sheep, now those are high maintenance. They don't need walks, food, or litter box changes. But there are a few little things you should know to keep them in tip-top shape.
Rule number one: treat them with love
Although they're tougher than they look (they're made of cold porcelain, which is pretty hard), Magikitos appreciate gentle treatment. They're not made of glass, but they're not a football either. So no throwing, no dropping from great heights, and no kung-fu battles with other Magikitos.
Pro tip: If you have little ones at home, explain that Magikitos are special friends who prefer soft hugs over wrestling matches.
No water (seriously, none)
Magikitos are not friends with water. No showers, no baths, no walks in the rain. Cold porcelain and water don't get along. If your Magikito gets too wet, it may lose its magic (and part of its shape).
If a bit of dust lands on it (it happens, it's normal), simply wipe it with a dry cloth or a soft little brush. And that's it!
What to do if it gets accidentally wet: A few drops are no big deal. Dry it right away carefully and you're good. But avoid submerging it in water or leaving it out in the rain.
Watch out for direct sunlight
Magikitos love natural light, but too much direct sun can fade them over time. It's like us at the beach without sunscreen: eventually we turn pinkish (or in their case, a bit faded).
Ideal spot: A shelf near a window, your desk, the nightstand... Anywhere it can see you and keep you company without getting direct sun all day.
A safe and stable spot
Magikitos are adventurous but prefer to stay nice and still in their spot. Find a stable place where they won't fall from an accidental bump. Avoid:
- The edge of a table where someone might trip
- Places with lots of movement (like on top of the microwave or next to a door that slams shut)
- Spots where they might be mistaken for a pet toy (cats are very curious)
Ideal spots: Shelves, desks, display cabinets, nightstands, ledges... Any corner where they can keep you company without the risk of falls.
Dust: the only real enemy
Over time, like everything at home, they can collect a little dust. No big deal, it's super normal.
How to clean it:
- Use a dry, soft cloth (like microfiber)
- Or a soft brush if it has little nooks where dust gathers
- Do it gently, without rubbing too hard
- And that's it, good as new!
What to do if something happens?
Life happens. Sometimes things fall, get bumped, or have a little accident. If your Magikito suffers any damage:
- Don't panic. Most little things can be fixed.
- Contact me. Email me telling me what happened and send a photo. Together we'll see what can be done.
- Don't try to glue it with random glue. Some glues can damage cold porcelain. If it needs repair, better leave it to me.
