Sparks on the Train

It was a summer afternoon, on a train packed with travelers. The carriages, normally a place of quiet and routine transit, vibrated with the tension of a particularly grumpy passenger. Jorge, known for his bad temper, was spitting complaints into the air that echoed louder than the noise of conversations. “This train is always full! People should ride bikes!” he would exclaim.

“The mayor should buy bigger trains, and put in more cars, and more timetables!”. He kept complaining, making the atmosphere heavy and bad-tempered.

On one of the seats, hidden by his smallness and magical camouflage, was Chispitas, a playful Magikito wearing a hand-knitted hat and a jacket with colorful patches. This little magical being, always attentive to human emotions, felt the urge to lighten the mood.

As the train moved forward, Chispitas crept stealthily toward Jorge, pulling a small pouch from his own jacket. With a discreet gesture, he released a glittering powder that spread slowly through the air, mingling with the breeze coming in through the open windows of the carriage.

The effect was almost immediate. The magic powder, when inhaled by the passengers, began to take effect. George, after a deep sigh, closed his eyes, and when he opened them, his frown had disappeared. Looking around, he seemed to notice for the first time the faces of his fellow passengers, and a shy smile began to form on his face.

“You know? Maybe it’s not so bad to travel accompanied,” he commented to the person next to him, who responded with a gesture of amazement and relief. “By the way, where did you come from, how was your day?”. Conversation spread through the carriage like a wave of warmth, and soon, laughter and pleasant chatter filled the space previously occupied by complaints.

Sparky, satisfied with the transformation, watched from his hiding place as the atmosphere in the train had lightened. The magic had taken its effect, and as the train continued on its course, harmony had been restored.

Arriving at the next station, Jorge stood up with renewed energy and, as he stepped out, offered his seat to a new passenger with a cheerful “Bon voyage!”. Chispitas, seeing that his task was complete, prepared for the next adventure, knowing that every little act of magic left the world a little better.
